ART 195 Photoshop Applications Part 1

CREDIT HOURS: 3

 

I COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduces the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop in the creation and manipulation of electronic images. Students will gain experience in practical and creative applications of the software.  Individual projects will include the use of digital equipment such as scanners, digital cameras, and output devices.

 

II RELATIONSHIP OF THE COURSE TO CURRICULAR OBJECTIVES:

Digital imagery is found everywhere in our visually oriented society. A working knowledge of Photoshop will enable students to understand and create these images.

    Prerequisites: None, but some knowledge of computer basics, photography, use of a digital camera and/or design principles would be helpful.

B. Import images into Photoshop

C.        Enhance and correct images

D. Prepare images for print and internet

E. Use of Photoshop tools and techniques

F. Create, manipulate and use text

G. Combine text and graphics

H. Practical applications: photography, graphic design, artistic, illustration, web design

I. Recognize and use appropriate vocabulary terms

J. Prepare a portfolio of work

1.The student will use appropriate vocabulary terms……….periodic quizzes

2.The student will import images from cd’s, jumpdrives, the web, digital cameras,

and the WWW……classroom observations

3. The student will use Photoshop tools and techniques to correct, enhance, combine and

resize images………..critique

4. The student will create files which incorporate image and text….. Critique

5. The student will prepare a portfolio of finished works….. graded and discussed by the

and intended audience. Correct spelling is essential in the creation of visual media.

and evaluate their work.

to use the appropriate tools and techniques to present it in a logical way.

            QUANTITATIVE REASONING: Students will manipulate image resolution and

pixels to explore image measurement concepts.

on appropriate information, software and image use.
