AT 6AM I Went out with a flashlight and plugged in the Christmas lights so Ruth would be able to find her way,

and lit a fire in the right firebox. We had had a lot of heavy rain as recently as the night before, so Ruth and I took the

firing very slowly all morning. The sun was out, temperature around 55, we enjoyed sitting in the sun listening to the

birds and the cars racing over at VIR between stoking the fire. The aroma of Ruth's crab soup in the crock pot added to the

enjoyment. Throughout the afternoon and evening we were treated with visits by friends and new acquaintances.

The evening was topped off with Larry's expertise in working the fire and being captivated by his story telling. This

was by far the smoothest firing, the only mishap being that Carol knocked a heavy steel instrument on her husband's

ankle. I couldn't help taking a picture of a dentist in pain....Cone 10 dropped around 9PM.
