The HISTOGRAM is a graph indicating the number of pixels at each color intensity level.

Low key-underexposed, High key-overexposed

 

IMAGE>Adjustments:

LEVELS-used to compress or expand the image’s range of brightness values. The histogram shows the density of the pixels within a given tonal range.

1. Channel pull-down menu

2. Output levels bar displays a smooth blend from black to white to help judge where you are setting the output sliders

CURVES-Gives control over brightness, contrast, color

3. Input-output-choose pixel in the image with eye dropper (shadow, midtones, highlights)

COLOR BALANCE-Changes the mood or creates special effects

1. Makes generalized color corrections

2. Tone balance radio buttons (s,m,h)

HUE/SATURATION

Hue=color

Saturation=intensity of color

Click on colorize to colorize entire image, can create sepia tones

Edit pull down menu-provides simultaneous or individual editing of all primary and secondary colors

1. Choose color range to modify

2. Click on color in the image you want to change

3. Drag sliders

CHANNEL MIXER-creates special effects

Output channel pull down lets you choose a color channel into which colors from other channels willbe mixed.

Constant slider adjusts opacity. Drag it to the right to decrease opacity.

Monochrome-turns image into a monochromatic pic

THRESHOLD-creates B/W images by pushing all the pixels brighter than a certain level to white and all those below a certain level to black. (try also with find edges filter)

Histogram -displays a graph of pixel density at any level of brightness

POSTERIZE-reduces all the colors to a particular number.

Enter any level of brightness values from 0-255

VARIATIONS-lets you control brightness and color balance by clicking on preadjusted thumbnails Values for shadows, midtones, highlights

PHOTO FILTER-Color adjustments by simulating Kodak Wratten filters

SHADOW/HIGHLIGHT-adjust tone, color, etc.

MATCH COLOR-applies color from another picture

 

Corrections using- heal/patch, smudge, blur, sharpen, dodge, burn, saturate, desaturate

THE RED-EYE, COLOR REPLACEMENT TOOL

 

 

In the options bar, choose: a brush tip, once, discontiguous

 

Set tolerance (0-255, the higher the number, the broader the range of colors will be replaced

 

Choose antialias

 

Choose a foreground color to replace the unwanted color

 

Click the color you want to replace

 

Remove red eye

Recolor an article of clothing, hair, or other area
